Mary Gardner Flynn, 89, dies
Mrs. Mary Flynn, 89, died this morning, June 12, 1975, at the
long term care unit of Washington County Hospital. She had been
seriously ill the past week.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist
Church with the Rev. Lloyd Bauer in charge. Burial will be in Elm Grove
Cemetery. Friends may call at Sherman-Eden Funeral Home until 10 a.m.
Saturday and at the church thereafter. The family will receive friends
from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. A memorial has been established, with
contributions to go to the Heart Association.
Mary Gardner was born Sept. 6, 1885, on a farm south of Wellman.
A daughter of Bruce and Capitola Brindley Gardner, she was reared in the
Wellman and Lexington communities and attended Mr. Pleasant Conservatory of Music.
She married William F. Flynn Dec. 24, 1920, and had lived here 21 years.
She was a piano instructor several years prior to her marriage.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star and D.A.R.
Mr. Flynn died June 11, 1970. Surviving are one son, Victor of
West Chester; three daughters; Mrs. Roy (Arlys) Eshelman of Crown Point,
Ind., Mrs. Robert A. (Capitola) Frink of Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Richard
(Abigail) Seeger of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; two sisters, Mrs. Annetta MeGugin
of Keota and Mrs. Loran (Norma) Palmer of Batavia; 12 grandchildren; and
several great-grandchildren.
