Michael M. Flynn dies Saturday night
KEOTA-Michael M. Flynn, 77, died Saturday evening at Mercy
Hospital, Iowa City, of complications following surgery for a broken hip
suffered in a fall at his farm home Sept. 2.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic
Church at Keota with the Rev. C. S. Kempker officiating. Burial will be
in the Keota cemetery. Friends may call at the family home. The rosary
will be at 8 p.m. this evening at the Powell Funeral Home.
Mr. Flynn was born Oct. 21, 1889, at Washington, a son of John
and Abigail Swift Flynn. He attended Washington schools and was married
Feb. 3, 1917, to Mary A. Taylor at Davenport. He farmed in the
Washington area and moved to his present home at Keota Dec. 1, 1942. He
was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Keota.
He is survived by his wife; four sons: Taylor, John, Robert and
Richard, all of Keota; and a daughter, Mrs. M. W. (Violet) Putman of
Midland, Mich. There are 26 grandchildren surviving, also four brothers:
W. F., George, Dennis and Leonard, all of Washington. He ws preceded in
death by his parents and a sister, Katherine.
The casketbearers will be six grandsons: Dan, Jerry, Kelly, Jay
P., Tom and James Flynn.
