Edward James Ford
Edward James Ford, son of John and Mary Ford, was born
November 13, 1865 at LaSalle, Illinois and passed away January 11, 1949
at Morrilton, Arkansas at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 28 days. He
had been ill about two weeks.
When a young man he moved to Adams county, Iowa with his parents.
For a time he farmed, but for many years he followed his trade of
blacksmithing at Iveyville and Nodaway. He was married at Nodaway, Iowa
to Margaret Conway, who preceded him in death in 1930. He is survived by
an adopted daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Schumaker of Center Ridge, Arkansas,
with whom he had made his home the past three years.
He is survived by a sister Mrs. Will Gentle of St. Paul; two
brothers, Tom Ford of Tingley, Iowa and Joe Ford of Creston; a number of
nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held Friday morning, January 14, 1949 at
10.a. m. from St. Patrick's Church in Corning, conducted by Father M. J.
Powers. Pall bearers were Robert Mack, Francis Mack, Robert Gauthier,
Paul Gauthier, Gene Mullin and John Jones. Interment was made in Calvary Cemetery.
Those from out-of-town who attended the services include Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Ford, Edward, Carl and Leo of Tingley, Iowa; Joe Ford of
Creston; Mr. and Mrs. Will Kennedy of Nodaway; Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Larson
and family of Omaha.
