Mrs. Forsyth, of Viola, Dies; Rites At Chapel Today
Mrs. Sherman Forsyth, 58, of Viola, who had been in poor
health for several years with high blood pressure and a heart ailment
and who had been hospitalized several times because of her condition,
died suddenly Sunday evening. She had been feeling as well as usual
until about 11 p. m. when she awakened and expressed her feelings to her
husband who immediately called the doctor and ambulance to take her to
Mercer County hospital, Aledo. She became unconscious enroute to the
hospital and died at 11:15, soon after entering the hospital.
Mrs. Forsyth, the former Harriet Hazel Castor, was born at
Reynolds, March 2, 1894. She was educated in the Reynolds schools and
became a member of the Antioch Baptist church at Marston.
She was married to Sherman Forsyth at Reynolds Oct 7, 1918.
Survivors
Surviving are the husband; six sons, Robert C. Forsyth, Los
Angeles, Calif.; James L., Lytle J., Earl D., and Dudley H., all of
Viola; and Vernon T. in the army at Camp Chaffee, Ark.; three brothers
Vernon, Cameron, and Wilbur Castor, all of Reynolds and two
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter and
a brother.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 30, from the Crummy
funeral home at 1:30 p.m. and from the United Presbyterian church at 2
p. m. with Rev. C. W. McCreight officiating, assisted by Rev. Norman
Moore of the Marston Antioch Baptist church.
The service of song was by Mrs. Jeanette Richardson and Miss
Laura Stewart. Selections were "Good Night and Good Morning"
and "No Night There". Mrs. Cora Terrey was accompanist.
Burial was in Viola Cemetery. Pallbearers were Messrs. Harry
Peterson, James Huffman, Carrol Hofer, Virgil Peterson, Delmar Bailey
and Ward Anderson.
