Axel Fredrickson
Funeral Services for Axel Albert Fredrickson, 85, of Applegate
Inn, Monmouth, were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon, Wednesday, in the
Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, with the Rev. Karl Nelson, pastor of the
Aledo Messiah Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial was in the Greenmound
Cemetery, Keithsburg.
Masonic services were held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the Funeral Home.
Mr. Fredrickson died about 3 p.m. on Sunday in the Applegate Inn.
He was born Aug. 24, 1885, in Finspang, Sweden, the son of Karl
and Amalia Lindstrom Fredrickson. He married Beda Osterberg on June 23,
1906, in Sweden.
While a young man he served in the Swedish army and later worked
in the steel foundry in Finspang, Sweden. Fredrickson, his wife and two
small children, Nels and Anna, came to the United States and to Illinois
in February 1910. The first home in America was near Aledo. The couple
farmed in Mercer, Henderson and Warren Counties before retiring and
moving to Little York in January of 1949.
He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Aledo and the Joy
Masonic Lodge 946, AF & AM since 1922.
Surviving are three sons, Nels of New Windsor; Everett of Seaton
and Pete of Monmouth; a daughter, Mrs. Anna Streets of Keithsburg; 11
grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mina Zachrisson of
Fagersta, Sweden; Mrs. Hilda Seth of Lotorp, Sweden.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1949; one brother, two
sisters and a grandson.
