Bertha R. Fredrickson
Bertha R. Fredrickson, 86 of Seaton, died 1:15 p.m. Thursday,
June 1, 2000, at Community Medical Center in Monmouth.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m., Sunday, June 4 at Hoover-Hall
Memorial Chapel in Monmouth with the Rev. Davey Lefler of the Little
York-Kirkwood United Methodist Churches and Rev. William Morse of
Biggsville presiding. Burial was in the Belmont Cemetery, Bald Bluff
Township. Friends called on Saturday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel
where her family will be present from 5-7 p.m. A Order of Eastern Star
services was held at 5 p.m.
Memorials may be left for Community Medical Center, Community
Hospices of America, Little York Methodist Church, Seaton Presbyterian
Church or the Gladstone Methodist Church.
Bertha was born April 15, 1914, in rural Seaton area, attending
Belmont Grade School and graduating from Seaton High School in 1932.
Bertha married Everett Fredrickson at the Little York United
Methodist parsonage on Dec. 12, 1934, and he preceded her in death on
Sept. 18, 1997.
She was a homemaker. She was a correspondent for The Times Record
and other area newspapers for many years. She taught piano, organ,
accordion and guitar lessons. She enjoyed accompanying high school
students at contests. She was organist for weddings, funerals, her
church and Sunday school pianist for 70 years and was substitute
organist for Gladstone United Methodist, Seaton Presbyterian and Little
York United Methodist Churches. She loved working with the children of
the Belmont neighborhood, helping produce school and church music programs.
She was a member of the United Methodist Women of Belmont, Fall
Creek and Little York, Order of Eastern Star #512 of Seaton of which she
was a 55 year member and was pianist of the Seaton Chapter and Past
Matron and a member of the Monmouth Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include one daughter: LaJune Ricketts of Little York; two
sons: Paul (Ruth) Fredrickson of Seaton; Donald (Judy) Fredrickson of
Seaton; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one sister:
Bernice Shike of Seaton along with nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother:
Clyde Ranney; one sister: Mae Fredrickson; and one granddaughter: Diane.
