Edwin Fritch of Viola Dies at Home Tuesday
Edwin C. Fritch, 70, prominent Viola resident, died suddenly
of a heart ailment about 9:45 a. m. Tuesday at his home. He had been
working around the garage at his home and Mrs. Fritch noticed that she
was not hearing him at his work and went to the garage where she found
him on the floor.
Dr. V. A. McClanahan of Aledo, county coroner, had been Mr.
Fritch's personal physician for some time and knew of his heart
condition. An inquiry was held by Dr. McClanahan and cause of death was
found to be from natural causes.
Mr. Fritch was born near Reynolds, Sept. 2, 1877, the son of
Joseph and Emma Budelier Smith Fritch. He moved with his parents to a
farm southeast of Viola when a small child. He attended the Greenbower school.
He was married to Miss Emilie Kallenberger Feb 22, 1899 and with
the exception of 10 years near Spring Ranch, Nebr., he lived all of his
life in the Viola community.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic church in Viola.
Surviving are the widow, a great-niece, Miss Imogene Kness, who
lived at his home, a brother Frank of Viola, a sister Mrs. Emma Garrett
of Aledo and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a. m. Friday at the residence
and at 9:30 from the St. John's church with Rev. C. M. Meyer, pastor of
St. Catherine's parish, officiating. Burial will be in St. John's
cemetery in Viola.
The Rosary will be recited at the residence Thursday evening at 8
o'clock. Pallbearers will be the following nephews of the deceased: Leo
Fritch of Reynolds, Martin and James Hanrahan of Galesburg, Erlo Shaw of
Green River, Ill., John Kness of Viola and Tom Adams of Matherville.
The body was removed to the Crummy Funeral home in Viola.
