Harvey Fritch
Harvey L. Fritch, 62, formerly of Reynolds, died Thursday, Feb. 17,
2005, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's
Catholic Church, Matherville, where he was a member. Burial is in St.
Joseph's Cemetery, Matherville. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. today at
Family Funeral Services, Reynolds, with a rosary at 7 p.m. Memorials may
be made to St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Oak Glen Home or the charity
of your choice.
He was born Sept. 22, 1942, in Rock Island, to Leo and Alice Grundstrom
Fritch. He married Mary Jeanne Verplaetse Sept. 11, 1965, in Geneseo.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and Master of
Business Administration from the University of Illinois. He had farmed
in the Preemption area since 1983. Prior to that, he was employed with
Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus, Ind., as a mechanical engineer.
He enjoyed restoring cars, upholstery and stained glass, and he loved music.
Survivors (and spouses) are his wife, Mary, Reynolds; mother, Alice
Fritch, Aledo; sisters, Sister Irene Marie Fritch, Peoria, and Joan
(Gary) Vogelgesang, Taylor Ridge; brothers, Charles (Patty) Fritch,
Casselberry, Fla., Joseph Fritch, Aledo; William (Cherry) Fritch,
Davenport, and Daniel (Melanie) Fritch, Sherrard; father-in-law, George
Verplaetse, Geneseo; brothers- and sisters-in-law, John and Sandy
Verplaetse, Cambridge, Robert Verplaetse, Osco, and Ruth and Lee Neuleib,
Kewanee; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
On a personal note, I'd like to thank the Oak Glen nurses for the
wonderful care given to my husband, Harvey, during his stay there.
