Floyd Gauley
Floyd H. Gauley, 97, of Reynolds, died Friday, March 26, 1999,
in Mercer County Hospital, Aledo.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo.
Burial is in Preemption Cemetery. Visitation is 4:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at
the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church,
Preemption, or the American Cancer Society.
Floyd Hall Gauley was born July 25, 1901, in Mercer County, Ill.,
the son of John Hull and Margaret Anna (Hall) Gauley. He married Eva M.
McMeekan on Feb. 1, 1937, in Mercer County. She died Sept. 24, 1997. The
couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1997.
He was born on the Gauley homestead and lived in the same house
and farmed the same farm his entire life.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopl Church, Preemption, and
Modern Woodmen of America. He enjoyed listening to ballgames on his radio.
He is survived by three children and their spouses, Janice and
Jim Kelly of Eureka, Ill., Marlin and Peggy Gauley of Sherrard, and
Sharon and Don Richardson of Reynolds; 10 grandchildren; three
stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 17 stepgreat-grandchildren;
and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
wife, his parents, and seven brothers.
