Jean Gauley
Funeral services and Mass of Christian burial for Jean K.
Gauley, 79, of Reynolds, will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's
Catholic Church, Andalusia. Burial will be in Reynolds Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Family Funeral Services,
Reynolds, with a prayer service offered at 5 p.m.
She died Monday, May 15, 2006, at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo,
after a brief battle with bone marrow cancer. Memorials may be made to
the family.
Jean K. Schultz Veeder Gauley was born to Mabel Zeis and Frank
Edward Schultz in Rock Island on Feb. 18, 1927. She graduated from St.
Joseph High School in 1945, worked at the former Servus Rubber Co. and
county clerk's office in Rock Island, stayed home to raise her children,
and returned to work in 1978 at Friendship Manor as a cook.
She married Charles J. Veeder in 1949. He drowned in 1952. She
married Edwin E. Gauley in 1955. He died April 10, 1997.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and American
Legion Post 1166 Auxiliary, Reynolds. She loved to work puzzles, play
cards, spend time with her grandchildren, cook and collect angels.
She is survived by six children and their spouses, Sharon and
Rick Russell, Woodland, Calif., Tony and Sue Veeder, Madison, Wis.,
Martin Daniel and Carla Gauley, Florissant, Colo., Peggy and Tom
McDonnell, Lynn Center, Martha and Mark Green, Reynolds, and Georgette
Ann and Jeff McEwen, Aledo; three granddaughters, eight grandsons and
one great-grandson; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; and special friend,
Ivan Anderson.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, two husbands and two
brothers, Charles and Herbert Schultz Sr.
