Henry Gehling
Henry Gehling, 68, of Gilmore City, brother of William and Ted
Gehling, Mrs. Clarence Masching and Mrs. James Houlihan of Carroll, died
unexpectedly of a heart attack Sunday afternoon at the home of his son,
Paul Gehling, in Gilmore City. He had formerly lived in the Carroll
vicinity, 48 years, having farmed here 25 years.
Funeral services will be at Gilmore City Wednesday morning. Short
rites at the Beiter Funeral home at 9:30 will be followed by requiem
mass at St. John's Catholic Church at 10 o'clock. Burial will be in St.
John's Cemetery, Gilmore City.
The rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
Mr. Gehling is survived by his wife, the former Regina Reiling of
Carroll; seven children, Mrs. Leo (Frances) Wendl, LeMars; Lawrence
Gehling, Gilmore City, Erwin Gehling, Gilmore City; Clarence Gehling,
Grand Meadow, Minn.; Paul Gehling, Gilmore City; Albert Gehling,
Rockwell City, and Mrs. Melvin (Virginia) Broich, Lake View; 27
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his two brothers and two sisters named, he leaves two
other sisters, Sr. M. Bernadita, Superior, Wis., and Mrs. Tony Wernimont, Storm Lake.
Mr. Gehling was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Gehling of
Carroll. After farming in this area, Mr. and Mrs. Gehling moved to a
farm near Clare 20 years ago. Five years later they retired and moved to Gilmore City.
Besides his parents, Mr. Gehling was preceded in death by one
brother and one sister.
