Leon Goold
Leon J. Goold, 67, Milan, formerly of Rock Island, died
Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock
Island. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.
Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials
may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Milan, where he was a member.
Leon was born Nov. 5, 1932, in Rock Island, the son of Robert J.
and Mildred Irene McMahill Goold. He married Marjorie Warren in 1952, he
later married Janet Willett May 24, 1974, in Rock Island.
Mr. Goold worked for the former Servus Rubber Co. for 42 years,
last working as director in the purchasing and traffic department,
before retiring in 1993 due to health reasons.
He was a member of the Quad City Traffic Club, the Purchasing
Association of the Quad Cities. He was also a member of Chicago Rubber
Group and a longtime officer of Servus Rubber Credit Union. He loved all
sports and, as was stated in the Argus-Dispatch in 1999, was Rock Island
High School's No. 1 sports fan. He also loved golf and racketball, along
with being with his family and pets.
Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Janet; daughters, Dawn
(Wayne) Kaneyuki, San Diego, Calif., Candy (Michael) Baker, Fresno,
Calif., and Kelly (Brett) Smith, Antelope, Calif.; a son, Tracy Goold,
who is stationed in Germany with the Air Force; stepsons, William
(Deborah) Gauley, Hazel Green, Wis., and Robert (Pamela) Gauley, Milan;
10 grandchildren; brothers, Ralph Goold and Keith (Barbara) Goold, all
of Rock Island; several nieces and nephews; along with several
great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
