Mrs. Ruth T. Haws Gordon, 80, of 550 E. Carl Sandburg Dr.
Galesburg IL, died at 11:12 AM Wednesday October 4, 2000 in Galesburg
Cottage Hospital.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Monday October 9, 2000 at the
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Daniel Siems, First
Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial
Gardens, Galesburg. Friends may call one hour before the service at the
chapel. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.
She was born on December 6, 1919 in Sumner Township, IL to W.
Frank and Lottie E. (Ranney) Tippett. She married F. Robert Haws in 1940
in Keokuk, IA, he precedes her death on December 19, 1973. She later
married Bernard L. Gordon in 1980 in Galesburg, he precedes her death in
1987. She worked as a legal secretary for 37 years working for Burrel
Barash, retiring in 1980. She was a member of the First Baptist Church,
Galesburg, serving on the Board of Trustees and as Church Clerk. She was
a member of the Tuscaurora Study Club.
She is survived by one niece-Donna A. Mewes-Davenport, IA, one
nephew-Kendall L. Tippett-Monmouth,IL, 2 grand Nieces-Sue Shunick-New
Windsor, IL, and Diane Allen-Carlsbad, CA. Three grand nephews-Rod
Tippett-Galesburg, Robert Tippett-Monmouth, Il, and James
Tippett-Chicago,IL. She is preceded in death by her husbands, parents,
and one brother.
