Mrs. Eva M. Grossman
Mrs. Eva M. Grossman, 75, of Carroll, died Saturday, Oct. 12,
1991, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian burial for Mrs. Grossman was held this
morning, Monday, Oct. 14, 1991, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll with
Revs. James Bruch and Mervin Hood officiating. Burial was at Mount
Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Honorary casket bearers were Cliff Hugeback, Jim Masching, John
Wessling, Joe Simons, Elmer Heiman and Howard Pietig. Casket bearers
were Paul Irlbeck, Chris Mosman, Troy Benson, Russ Grossman, Steve
Wessling and Donn Mosman.
Gift bearers were Monica Blackley, Laurie Thobe, Beth Ann
Grossman and Trisha Benson.
Mass servers were Adam Wessling and Doug and Scott Gach. Eucharistic
ministers were Marian and Raymond Irlbeck.
Mrs. Grossman was born Sept. 15, 1916, at Roselle, a daughter of
Ben and Emma (Beyerink) Steffes. At age 4, she moved with her family to
a farm north of Carroll. She attended St. Lawrence School in Carroll.
She and Lawrence L. Grossman were married on Nov. 23, 1937, at
St. Lawrence Church in Carroll with Rev. Cordes officiating. Following
their marriage, the couple lived in Coon Rapids and Roselle. In 1955,
they moved to their present farm on Grant Road south of Carroll.
They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1987.
Mrs. Grossman was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll and
the Parish Ladies Guild.
Survivors include a son and five daughters: Darol Grossman and his wife,
Louise, of Carroll; Janet Mosman and her husband, Art, of Carroll;
Jolene Wessling and her husband, Louis, of Breda; Marian Irlbeck and her
husband, Raymond, of Manning; Dorene Benson and her husband, Larry, of
Clear Lake; Frances Ostrander and her husband, George, of DePere, Wis.;
25 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Hilbert
Steffes and his wife, Virginia, of Carroll; Albert Steffes and his wife,
Irene, of Alta; and Bernard Steffes of Arlington, Wash.; and three
sisters: Loretta Broich of Carroll; Rita Halbur and her husband, Dan, of
Carroll; and Eleanora Mueggenberg and her husband, Pete, of Kingfisher, Okla.
Mrs. Grossman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
Lawrence, in 1987; a grandson, Jeff Wessling; two brothers, Paul Steffes
and William Steffes; and a sister. Rose Mary Steffes.
