Lawrence L. Grossman
Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 2, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll for Lawrence L.
Grossman, 74, who died Tuesday, Dec. 29, at St. Anthony Regional
Hospital in Carroll following a brief illness.
The Revs. Mervin Hood and James Bruch will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Lector for the Mass will be Sister Phyllis Bruch. Gift bearers
will be granddaughters Monica Mosman, Beth Ann Grossman and Laurie Thobe.
Mass servers will be Brian Simons, Jim Gach and Doug Gach.
Casket bearers will be grandsons Paul Irlbeck, Troy Benson, Kurt
Mosman, Russ Grossman, Todd Grossman and Steve Wessling. Honorary casket
bearers will be Cliff Hugeback, Frank Gach, John Wessling, Joe Simons,
Elmer Heiman and Howard Pietig.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Sharp Funeral Home in
Carroll. Rosary will be recited at 3and 8 p.m. Friday, the latter by
Holy Spirit Parish and the Carroll Knights of Columbus. There will be a
scriptural prayer service at 8:45 p.m. Friday.
Born Feb. 2, 1913, in Carroll, Mr. Grossman was a son of Joseph
and Cecilia (Kramer) Grossman. He spent his lifetime in the Carroll area
and attended Sts. Peter and Paul Grade School.
On Nov. 23, 1937, he was married to Eva Steffes at St. Lawrence
Church in Carroll by the Rev. Cordes. Following their marriage, the
couple lived near Coon Rapids and then in the Roselle area. In 1955,
they moved to their current farm home south on Grant Road in Carroll.
The Grossmans celebrated their golden wedding anniversary this year.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll and the Carroll
Knights of Columbus. He was also a former trustee of Carroll County
Drainage District No. 23.
Mr. Grossman is survived by his wife, Eva, of Carroll; a son,
Darol Grossman, and his wife, Louise, of Carroll; five daughters, Janet
(Mrs. Art) Mosman of Carroll, Jolene (Mrs. Louis) Wessling of Breda,
Marian (Mrs. Raymond) Irlbeck of Manning, Dorene (Mrs. Larry) Benson of
Fort Morgan, Colo., and Frances (Mrs. George) Ostrander of DePere, Wis.;
25 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Julian
(Cecilia) Bruch of Emmetsburg, Mrs. Havens (Angeline) Beck of Whittler,
Calif.. Mrs. John (Margaret) Brown of Escondido, Calif., and Mrs. John
C. (Arlene) Sondgeroth of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs.
Maurice (Leota) Grossman of Carroll and Mrs. Felix (Rita) Grossman of Carroll.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jeff
Wessling; two sisters, Regina Bruch and Genevieve Huegerich; and two
brothers, Maurice and Felix Grossman.
