Death Summons Bernard Grote, Breda Pioneer

  Bernard Grote, 82, died at his home in Breda at 8:15 this morning. He had been ill several weeks.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed. The body will be taken from the Olerlch funeral home at Carroll to the Grote home in Breda at 10:30 o'clock tomorrow.
  Mr. Grote, the son of Henry and Mary Grote, was born June 26, 1864, in New Vienna, Dubuque county, Iowa. He came to Carroll county in 1881.

  He was married to Elizabeth Rauch at St. Bernard's church in Breda April 26, 1892. After living a year on a farm near Breda, they move to Pochantas county, where they stayed 11 years. From there they came to Sac county, where they spent four years. In 1908 they moved to a farm near Mount Carmel, where they lived until Mr. Grote's retirement 19 years ago.
  In 1942 Mr. and Mrs. Grote celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
  Mr. Grote was a member of St. Bernard's church and of the Holy Name society.

  He is survived by his wife; five children, Mrs. Henry Oswald (Laura), Carroll; and Herman, Mrs. Arthur Derner (Marguerite), Mrs. Cyril Snyder, (Anna) and Mrs. Walter Snyder (Christine), Breda; three sisters, Mrs. Bernadine Heires, Breda; Mrs. Elizabeth Loneman, Little Rock, Iowa, and Mrs. Henry Kenkenius, (Mary) Elgin, Neb., and one brother, Anton, St. Paul, Minn. He has 44 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
  Mr. Grote was preceded in death by his parents, three children and seven brothers and sisters.

Last Rites to Be Held For Bernard Grote, 82

  Breda - Funeral services for Bernard Grote, 82, who died Friday morning, will be held in St. Bernard church at 9:30 Monday morning. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Funeral Services Held Monday For Bernard Grote, 82

  Breda - Funeral services for Bernard Grote, 82, who died at his home here Friday morning, were held at St. Bernard church at 9:30 Monday morning. The Rev. Fr. E. L. Schleyer offered the requiem mass. Priests in the sanctuary were the Rev. Fr. M. Stork of arcadia and the Rev. Fr. Strum of Mount Carmel.
  Burial was in St. Bernard cemetery.
  Pallbearers were Henry Stork, Joe Feldman, Barney Osterholt, Edmond Schulte, Ted Boes and Joseph Grabner.
