Herman Grundstrom
Herman B. Grundstrom, 87, Comfort Harbor Home, Milan, died
Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ambrose Church, Milan, with
the Rev. Msgr. Dale L. Wellman officiating. Burial is in Calvary
Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today at Wheelan
Funeral Home, Rock Island, with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Memorials
may be made to St. Ambrose Church, where he was a member.
Mr. Grundstrom was born Oct. 15, 1912, in Edgington Township, the
son of Oscar and Tena Vroman Grundstrom. He married Violet Parker July
31, 1937, in Milan. She died Oct. 13, 1991.
He was employed as a molder by Deere and Co. for 37 years at the
former Malleable plant and later at the former foundry, East Moline,
retiring in 1972.
Mr. Grundstrom had lived for a number of years in Blackhawk
Township. He was a member of the Viking Club of Moline, Thor Lodge 9.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include sisters, Dorothy (Mrs. Tony) Thielen, Batavia,
Iowa, and Alice Fritch, rural Aledo; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl
and Martha Grundstrom, Aledo; a brother-in-law, Frank Murphy, Reynolds;
and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Murphy.
