Grace Guccione
Grace L. Guccione, 82, of Aledo, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at the
Mercer County Nursing Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St.
Catherine's Catholic Church, Aledo, with the Rev. John Thieryoung
officiating. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is one hour
prior to services at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to the Mercer County Nursing Home or St.
Catherine's Church.
Grace was born on Oct. 9, 1921, in Cleveland, Ohio, to
Christopher and Rose Russo LoPiccolo. She married Saverio
"Sam"
Guccione on Oct. 31, 1942, in Cleveland. He preceded her in death on
Nov. 18, 1993.
Grace was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church and had
been active in various church activities. She combined her passions of
Aledo sports and cooking by volunteering to serve the football team
their pregame meals. As an avid dancer, Grace would light up the halls
of the nursing home. She was proudly honored as the Mercer County
Nursing Home's "Queen" in 2001. Her greatest loves were her
grandchildren, family and friends.
Grace is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and
Martin E. Conway Jr., Aledo; grandsons (and spouse), Sean (Natalie),
Kelly and Colin Conway, all of Chicago; and one sister, Frances Iacano,
Willoughby, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two
brothers and five sisters.
