Death Claims Mrs. Hannasch, County Pioneer
Mrs. Elizabeth M. Hannasch, 79, who had lived in Carroll
county since her girlhood, died at 5 o'clock this morning at the Tryon
Nursing home on North Main street. Mrs. Hannasch had been ill since last
May, but bedfast only since Saturday.
The body is remaining at the Olerich Funeral home until the time
of the services, which are to be at SS. Peter and Paul's church at 9
o'clock Saturday morning.
The rosary will be prayed at the funeral home at 7:30 tonight and
also Thursday night.
Mrs. Hannasch was born Elizabeth Puettman, daughter of Bernard
and Sybilla Puettman, Sept. 24, 1866, at Festina, Iowa. Her marriage to
Fred Hannasch took place Jan. 11, 1887, a t Holy Angels church in Roselle.
Shortly after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hannasch located in
Carroll, where Mr. Hannasch had his headquarters as salesman for the
Rock Island Plow company. He passed away July 11, 1926.
Mrs. Hannasch is survived by two sons and two daughters: Harry
Hannasch, Washington, D. C.; Mrs. J. H. Bayliss (Charlotte), Carroll;
Mrs. F. A. Lepinski (Babe), Minneapolis and Arthur Hannasch, Dallas,
Tex. She leaves 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Three
grandsons are in the service: Tommy Munn, who is in the navy, Jack
Bayliss, with the army air forces, and Don Bayliss, in the navy.
Three children preceded Mrs. Hannasch in death: Mrs. O. W. Munn
(Anna), who died at Oelwein in January, 1940, and Frank and Louise in infancy.
Mrs. Hannasch was one of a family of 11 children, the survivors
of whom are: Mrs. Angeline Bengfort, Mrs. Lena Mosman, Mrs. Frank Renze
and Mrs. Johanna Comes, all of Carroll; Mrs. Carrie Hannasch of Ft.
Dodge, and Joseph Puettman of Stacyville, Iowa.
Mrs. Hannasch belonged to SS. Peter and Paul's church and the
Christian Mothers Sodality of the parish.

Final Rites Held Saturday Morning For Mrs. Hannasch
Funeral services were held at SS. Peter and Paul's church at 9
o'clock Saturday m o r n i n g for Mrs. Elizabeth M. Hannasch, who died
Wednesday morning. The Rev. Father Lambert Schenkelberg officiated at
the requiem mass.
Burial was in the parish cemetery and pallbearers were: Leo
Winneke, O. J. Bernholz, Tom J. Finegan, Dick Happe, Andy G. Ley and
Louis J. Kelly.

Hannasch, Washington, D. C; Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Lepinski, Minneapolis,
Minn.; Arthur Hannasch, Dallas, Tex.; O. W. Munn of Oelwein and
daughter, Mrs. Don Tallman of Clarion; Mrs. Carrie Hannasch, Ft. Dodge,
and E. M. Bayliss, Omaha.
