Mrs. George Happe
SCRANTON - Requiem mass for Mrs. George H. Happe, 74 of
Scranton will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Paul's Catholic
Church here by the Rev. Bernard Greteman. Burial will be in St. John's
Cemetery, Arcadia, with graveside rites at 2 p.m.
Friends may call at the Dahn-Woodhouse Funeral Home, Scranton,
where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Mrs. Happe died at 5:35 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Leo Downs at Churdan, after a long illness.
The former Eleanora Theresa Buchholz, she was born at Arcadia
April 11, 1897. Her parents were Henry and Matilda Berning Buchholz. On
Jan. 23, 1916, she was married to Mr. Happe at St. John's Church,
Arcadia, by the Rev. Fr. Rummele. They came to Scranton from Carroll in
March, 1938; she had been at her daughter's home for the past seven
weeks. She was a member of St. Paul's Church and the Rosary Society.
Surviving with her husband are four daughters, Mrs. Edna Lawrence
of Scranton, Mrs. Downs (Rita) of Churdan, Mrs. Ramona Scott of Council
Bluffs and Mrs. Dorothy Beatty of Mountoursville, Pa.; three sons,
Melvin of Knokke, Belgium, Paul of Scranton and Robert of Churdan; 36
grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Duffy
and Mrs. Agnes Duffy, both of Arcadia.
Mrs. Happe was preceded in death by two brothers, the Rev. W. F.
Buchholz and Joe Buchholz,
and three other brothers in infancy.
