George H. Happe
George Herman Happe, 88, of St. Anthony Nursing Home, Carroll,
formerly of Scranton, died at St. Anthony Regional Hospital Sunday night.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m.
Wednesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Scranton, with the Rev. Msgr.
O. W. Koester officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery,
Arcadia, under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home. Scranton.
Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home, Scranton, after
7:30 p.m. Monday. A parish rosary will be recited at 8.30 p.m. Tuesday
at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home, Scranton.
Mr. Happe, son of Joseph and Elizabeth Diehl, was born on Sept.
6, 1889 at Arcadia. His marriage to Eleanora Buchholz took place on Jan.
23, 1917 at St. John's Catholic Church, Arcadia, with the Rev. Rummelle
officiating. He farmed for 21 years north of Carroll and then moved to
the family home southwest of Scranton in 1938 where he farmed until the
death of his wife in 1971. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic
Church, Scranton.
Surviving are the following children: Melvin of Lancaster, Pa.;
Mrs. John (Edna) Lawrence of Scranton; Mrs. Leo (Rita) Downs of Churdan,
Mrs. Dorothy Beatty of Montoursville, Pa.; Paul Happe of Carroll, Robert
Happe of Churdan and Mrs. Alan (Ramona) Scott of Omaha, Neb.; 36
grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister.
Mrs. Frank (Caroline) Valasek of Omaha, Neb., and a brother, Theodore
(Dick) Happe of Carroll.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters and
seven brothers.
