Alice Lucille Hatton
Alice Lucille Hatton, daughter of William and Mary Lucille
Moore Cullen, was born April 13, 1899, at Reno, Iowa, and died Dec. 2,
1987, at Mercy Hospital, Corning, Iowa, at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 19 days.
Funeral Mass was Saturday, Dec. 5, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in
Corning with the Rev. Fred Reischl officiating. Burial was in Calvary
Cemetery at Corning. Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Corning was in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were Tom Hatton, Jay Holste, Dan Holste, Todd Hatton,
Terry Holste and Richard Hatton. Honorary bearers were Dan Hatton, Tom
Hatton, Mark Hatton, James Hatton, Steve Hatton, David Hatton, Michael
Herring, Bernard Herring, Patrick Herring, Robert Hatton, James Herring
and Dennis Hatton.
On Nov. 26, 1919, Alice married James E. Hatton at Massena. She
and her husband "Birdie" were employed for many years by Happy
Hollow Country Club where she cooked. In 1953 Mrs. Hatton became a
fulltime cook at Rosary Hospital where she worked for 22 years.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Corning, a member of
St. Patrick's Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary, Ourcq
Post 117. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five
children Robert, Gerald, Bernard, Larry and Carolyn; one
great-grandchild Michelle Wolfe; a daughter-in-law Debra (Mrs. James
Hatton); two brothers, Edward Cullen and Earl Cullen and one sister, Mabel Mills.
Survivors include six children, John (Jack) and wife, Mary of
Tacoma, Wash.; Kathleen (Mickey) Holste and husband, Merlin of Shell
Knob, Mo.; William and wife Cae of Denver, Colo.; James of Fresno,
Calif.; and Richard and wife, Loretta of Lincoln, Neb.; 25 grandchildren
and 40 great-grandchildren.
