Mrs. T. S. Hatton

  Mrs. T. S. Hatton passed away at the home of Mrs. V. E. Miller in Corning, Tuesday, December 10, 1918, aged 51 years, 3 months and 14 days. The funeral services were held Friday morning, at the St. Patrick Catholic church, requiem mass being celebrated by Rev. Father Richard Dollard. The body was laid to rest in Calvary cemetery.
  Sara Jane Barry was born in Clinton county, in 1887, on the 26th of August. She was married to T. S. Hatton on February 20, 1884. To this union fourteen children were born, of whom six died in infancy. The living children are William Hatton, of Camp Travis, Texas, Tom, at home; James, of Great Lakes; Bertha, at Council Bluffs; Marcella, Francis, Lewis and Gladys at home. Mrs. Hatton also leaves five brothers and sisters. They are Mrs. James Cullen, Mike Barry and James Barry, also Mrs. Tom Waters of Mr. Etna, and Pat Berry of Wenatchee, Wash. Mrs. Hatton was a well know and highly respected resident of our community and will be sadly missed by a large circle of friends and relatives.

Many friends of the family were more than grieved to learn that Mrs. Tom Hatton was dangerously ill for several days with pneumonia at the home of Mrs. Bud Miller, passing away Tuesday evening at 5 o'clock. She had been staying with Mrs. Miller since the death of Mr. Miller and was taken seriously ill Thursday of last week with which from the first the family physician was unable to come. The funeral was held yesterday morning (Friday) at St. Patrick's Catholic church, Requiem Mass being celebrated by the pastor, Rev. Father Dollard. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery. Sara Jane Barry was born in Clinton county August 26, 1866, and was aged 52 years, 3 months and 14 days. When a child she came with her parents to Mt. Etna vicinity, where she was reared to womanhood and where she was married to T. S. Hatton February 20, 1884. To them fourteen children were born, eight with the father surviving her. The living children are Willie at Camp Travis, Texas; Tommy at home; Jimmy of Great Lakes, Ill.; Miss Bertha, Marcella, Francis, Lewis and Gladys at home. Besides her devoted family she leaves the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Tom Waters, Mrs. Jas. Cullen, Mike Barry, James Barry and Pat Barry who resides at Wenatchee, Wash. Mrs. Hatton was one of the finest women one would meet in many a day; always jolly, with a pleasant smile and a word of cheer; a most devoted wife and mother, a good neighbor and friend and devoted to her church.
