Henry Haverman Dies Today at His Farm Home
Funeral Services Will Be Held at 9:30 A. M. Friday, Roselle
Henry Haverman, who had lived on the same farm about seven and
one-half miles southwest of Carroll for sixty years, died at his home at
12:40 this morning. He had been in failing health for the past year and
had suffered several light strokes during that time. Sunday morning he
was again stricken. Death came to him at the age of 71 years.
Funeral services are to be at 9:30 Friday morning at Holy Angels
Church, Roselle, with the Rev. Louis Anthofer officiating at the requiem
mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
The body is being returned this afternoon from the Dietrich
Funeral Home to the family residence, where it will rest until the time of the rites.
Mr. Haverman, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Haverman, was born
Jan. 20, 1871, at Ankum, Germany. Coming to the United States when he
was eleven years old, he had lived on the same
farm since that time.
Oct. 17, 1905, he was married at Halbur to Miss Elizabeth
Friedman, who passed away April 7, 1916. Surviving are the following
children: Joseph, William, Mrs. John Starman (Louise), Mrs. Leo Hannasch
(Margaret) and Lawrence, all of Carroll. He also leaves eight
grandchildren; one brother, Herman Haverman of Fordyce, Neb., and two
sisters, Sister M. Reynolda of Granville and Mrs. William Rupiper of
Templeton. Three sisters, Mrs. John Beckman (Anna), Mrs. Anton Beckman
(Lizzie), and Mrs. Henry Halbur (Margaret), preceded him in death.
Mr. Haverman, a member of Holy Angels Church, died well fortified
with the last sacraments. He also belonged to the Rosary Sodality of the
parish.
