Shirley M. Hawn
Funeral services for Shirley M. Hawn, 53, of Aledo were held
at 2 p.m., Friday at the Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Rev. James
DeBisschop, assistant pastor of St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church,
Aledo, and Rev. Claude Moreland, pastor of the First Baptist Church,
Aledo, officiated and burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Keithsburg.
Mrs. Hawn died Wednesday morning, May 3, 1989 at Mercer County
Hospital in Aledo. Memorials may be made for an education fund for her
grandchildren at Fippingers.
The former Shirley O'Hearn was born Jan. 16, 1936 in Davenport,
IA, a daughter of Russell and Cecille Harrison O'Hearn. She attended the
Hazel Dell School at rural Keithsburg and graduated from the former
Keithsburg High School in 1953.
She married William Hawn on Nov. 12, 1955 in Aledo and the couple
resided in the Buffalo Prairie area before moving to Aledo. She was
employed as a bookkeeper for several area firms, most recently for the
Circle B Equipment Co. in Buffalo Prairie.
She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Aledo and
the American Legion Auxiliary, Fallerans Post 121 of Aledo.
Survivors include her husband, a daughter, Gwen Leonard of Aledo;
two grandchildren; her father Russell O'Hearn of Keithsburg; and a
brother, John O'Hearn of Aledo.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
