William Chris Hein
The first of the week a message was received by Corning
relatives stating the death of Will Hein of Portland, Ore., which
occurred Saturday, March 31, at a sanitarium at Salem. The cause of his
death was tuberculosis from which he had been seriously ill since
November, and had been confined to his bed for four months previous to
his death. The body was brought to Corning by his wife, arriving here
Thursday evening. A short funeral service will be held at Calvary
cemetery at 10:30 this morning (Saturday) and will be conducted by Rev.
Father Richard Dollard, after which interment will be made. William
Chris Hein was born in the state of Michigan May 1, 1863, and came to
Corning when a child of six years with his parents, John and Lucy Hein,
both of whom are deceased. He grew to manhood in this city, and was
married to Mrs. Ida Urie August 1, 1900. Two sons, John and Paul were
born to them and are residing at home. The family left here in 1906
going to Minot, S.D., where they resided five years, then a couple of
years at Havre, Mont., and for the past three years and a half at
Portland, Ore. Besides his wife and children he leaves the following
brothers and sisters: Mr. Hugh Donahue of Corning; Mr. Mary Swassing and
Mrs. Maggie Mulvehill, of Council Bluffs; Mart Hein of Portland, Ore.,
and John Hein of Seattle, Wash., and George Hein, whose present address
in unknown. The three sisters were in attendance at the funeral, also
the following from out of town: George Hein, Lucy Hein, Willie Swassing
of the Bluffs, Mrs. Rose Key and daughter, Mrs. Ethel Murchy of Lenox,
