Mrs. Anna Heithoff
Mrs. Anna Heithoff, 88, died at her home, 121 South Maple
Street, at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday after a long illness. Her condition had
been serious for two weeks. She was the widow of Barney Heithoff.
Requiem mass will be read by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Frank H. Greteman
at 10 a.m. Friday at SS. Peter and Paul's Church. Burial will be in Mt.
Olivet Cemetery.
Friends may start calling at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Twit Funeral
Home, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday and will be
prayed by the Rosary and Altar Society, led by Msgr. Greteman. at. 8 p.m. Thursday,
Mrs. Heithoff, daughter of Henry and Katherine Kenkel Kettmann
was born Nov. 1, 1870 in Germany, where she attended school. In 1883
she came to the United States with her parents, who settled on a farm
one mile south and two miles west of Templeton.
She married Mr. Heithoff May 20, 1890, at Sacred Heart Church,
Templeton, with the Rev. Fr. Schulte officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Heithoff
lived on their farm one and one-half miles south of Roselle, until they
retired in 1929 and moved into the present home.
Mrs. Heithoff is survived by three daughters and seven sons: Mrs.
Frank (Kate) Roth, Henry, Ben, Albert and Rudy Heithoff, Elgin Neb.;
Pete Heithoff, Varina; Mrs. Henry (Mayme) Behrens, Carroll; Mrs. Joe
(Rose) Kitt, Dedham; Leo Heithoff, Roselle, and Norbert Heithoff,
Carroll; 44 grandchildren a n d 84 great-grandchildren.
A son, Frank, died Dec. 20, 1918, at the age of 17 years. Her
husband passed away July 25. 1939.
The last of her family, Mrs. Heithoff was preceded in death by two
brothers, Fr. Bernard Kettmann, Kingsley, Mich., and George Kettmann,
Templeton, and two sisters,
Mrs. Barney (Mary) Deiterman, Remsen, and Mrs. Joe (Kate) Heithoff,
Cedar Rapids, Neb.
She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's Church and the Rosary and Altar
Society of the parish.

Mrs. Anna Heithoff
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Heithoff, 88, of 121 South
Maple Street, were largely attended at SS. Peter and Paul's Church at 10
a.m. Friday. Requiem mass was read by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Frank H. Greteman.
Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Msgr. Greteman and the Rev.
Edmond Adams conducted the graveside rites. Pallbearers, grandsons of
Mrs. Heithoff, were Roman Roth, Manchester; Alvin Heithoff, Petersburg,
Neb.; Duane Heithoff, Albert City; Melvern Heithoff, Elgin, Neb.; Glenn
Heithoff and James Behrens, Carroll.
Attending the services from away were Mrs. Kate Roth and
daughter, Kathleen, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Roth, Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Heithoff, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Josten, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Heithoff,
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Heithoff, Melvern Heithoff, Mrs. Max Schindler, Mr. and
Mrs. Rudy Heithoff, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Heithoff, Mr. and Mrs. John
Richards and daughter, Germaine, and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Dinslage,
Elgin, Neb.; Roman Roth, Manchester; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Heithoff,
Petersburg, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. John Richart, Neleigh, Neb.

Relatives from Dedham and Templeton were also present.
Mrs. Heithoff, widow of Barney Heithoff, is survived by three
daughters and seven sons, all of whom were at the rites: Mrs. Frank
(Kate) Roth, Henry, Ben, Albert and Rudy Heithoff, Elgin, Neb.; Peter
Heithoff, Varina; Mrs. Henry (Mayme) Behrens, Carroll; Mrs. Joe (Rose)
Kitt, Dedham; Leo Heithoff, Roselle, and Norbert Heithoff, Carroll. She
also leaves 44 grandchildren and 84 great-grandchildren.
The last of the family of Henry and Katherine Kenkel Kettmann,
she was preceded in death by three brothers, the Rev. Bernard Kettmann,
George and Henry Kettmann, and two sisters, Mrs. Barney Deiterman and
Mrs. Joe Heithoff.
Born in Germany. Mrs. Heithoff had lived in Carroll County since
1883 and in her present home here since 1929.
