Margaret L. Henderson
Margaret L. Henderson, 77, of Creston died of Lou Gehrig's
disease April 14, 2000, at Creston Nursing and Rehab Center.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. April 17 at Holy Spirit Catholic
Church with the Rev. Leonard Kenkel officiating. Burial will be in
Calvary Cemetery. There is open visitation noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, 6:30
p.m. rosary, 7 p.m. prayer vigil service and the family will receive
friends 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Powers Funereal Home, 601 New York
Avenue. Memorials may be directed to Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Henderson was born Jan. 8, 1923, in Creston to Peter and
Catherine (Bradley) McCann. She graduated from Creston High School. She
married Harold Henderson. She was employed at Gits Manufacturing until
retiring and then worked part-time at Hy-Vee until September 1999. She
lived in the Creston area all her life. She was a member of Holy Spirit
Catholic Church Council of Catholic Woman, St. Ann's Society Catholic
Daughters of America, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Elks and Lady Elks.
Survivors include two brothers, Robert McCann of Tampa, Fla., and
Frank McCann of Creston; and four sisters, Mary C. McEvoy of Santa
Marta, Calif., Luellen Huss and Jane McCann of Des Moines and Regina
Myers of State Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1987 and
