Clem H. Henkenius
Clem H. Henkenius, 70, of Carroll died Sunday, March 22, at
St. Anthony Hospital after a short illness. A retired farmer, he had
lived at 419 East Seventh Street since last June.
Requiem mass will be read at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Spirit
Church, Carroll, of which he was a member. Interment will be in Mt.
Calvary Cemetery, Grand Junction. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Monday
at the Twit Funeral Home in Carroll, where the rosary will be recited at
8 and 8:45 p.m. both Monday and Tuesday and also at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Henkenius was born at Arcadia Jan. 23, 1900, a son of William
and Bernadine Niehaus Henkenius. He received his schooling at Arcadia.
His marriage to Katherine Reiff took place Jan. 17, 1928, at St. Bernard
Church, Breda, with the Rev. Fr. Schulte officiating. After farming in
Carroll and Sac Counties they moved in 1955 to Paton, living there until
coming to Carroll in June, 1969.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Darlene)
Rosenhauer of Boone; a son, Robert, of Calumet, Mich.; five
grandchildren, Michael Jon and Teresa Ann Henkenius, Jane, Anne and
Susan Rosenhauer; three brothers, Herman Henkenius of Massena, Louis
Henkenius, Arcadia, and Ray Henkenius, Carroll; and a sister, Mrs. Bill
(Lorena) Hoffmann, Carroll.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Ann, on Feb. 24,
1970; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Imming and Mrs. Gertrude Lehrter, who
was his twin.
