Marguerite B. Hines, 81 dies Tuesday at Adel, Ia.
Mrs. Marguerite B. Hines, 81, former Washington County
resident, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 17, 1961 at Adel Acres Care Center
in Adel, Iowa. Her death was unexpected.
Mrs. Hines had lived on a farm seven miles north of Washington
and also taught rural schools several years when in the area.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic
Church here with the Rev. John Whalen in charge. Burial will be in Elm
Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Jones funeral home starting
Thursday evening. Rosary service will be there Friday at 7:30 p.m.
She was born Sept. 15, 1900 in Ainsworth, a daughter of Francis
and Jane (Jenny) Swift Bruty. She was raised in this county and married
here Dec. 26, 1922 to Joseph Hines who died Oct. 26, 1976.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Catholic
Daughters and Rita Circle of St. James Church.
Surviving are seven children; Mrs. Neil (Martha) Russom of
Superior, Wis., Donald of Springfield, Mass., Mrs. Dan (Carol) Greenwell
of Stockton, Calif., Mrs. Frank (Lois) Schneider and Harry D. Hines of
Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Marvin (Glenna) Turk of Des Moines, and Mrs. James
(Vivian) Broderick of Waukee.
Also surviving are 35 grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Alex (Dorothy) Gevock of
Washington, Sister Mary Lucille Bruty of Dubuque, and Mrs. Walter (Lucy)
Schoenfelder of Oakdale.
Two sons, Kenneth and Joseph Jr., and four brothers and one
sister preceded her in death.
