Damian J. Hogan
Damian J. Hogan, 85, Lathrop, Mo., was born to James and
Esther Rife Hogan at Massena, but grew up in Corning. He died Oct. 29,
1997, at Osage Beach, Mo.
He was a retired vice-president of Metropolitan Life Insurance
Company where he had worked for 38 years. He spent 25 of those years in
New York in the New York head office and made his home in the
Greenwich-Stanford, Conn. area. He was in charge of the company's farm
and ranch mortgage operations nationwide. He retired to his Missouri
farm "Emerald Prairie" in 1977 and for many year was
associated with the Hereford cattle business, both on his Adams County
and Clinton County, Mo. farms. During his career he had served on
several boards associated with agricultural credit. The past several
years he has served on the board of the University of South Dakota
Foundation. He graduated from the university with a juris doctor degree in 1939.
Mr. Hogan was preceded in death by his brother Father Paul M.
Hogan, CSSR; and sister, Sister Muriel Hogan.
He is survived by his wife Esther; sons Philip Hogan and Steven
Hogan, Kansas City, Mo.; daughters Judith Ann Hickey, Boulder, Colo.,
Janet Lashendock, Mission, Kan., and Angela Leith, Washington, D.C.;
seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Colonel Raphael
J. Hogan, Fox Lake, Ill.; and sister Gretchen Wagner, Bass Lake, Ind.
Services were held Nov. 3 at St. Ann's Church, Plattsburg, Mo.
Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Corning on Nov. 4.
