Louis K. Hogan
Louis K. Hogan, son of the deceased Michael and Mary Hogan,
was born July 5, 1873, in Mercer township, and died August 28, 1945, at
Idaho Falls, the home of his sister, Mrs. Lou Woodmansee.
Mr. Hogan started farming at an early age, first with his parents
and then for himself. Later he moved to Idaho, where he bought and lived
on a farm for several years. In 1933, he sold his Idaho farm and
returned to Corning, where he purchased a farm in Mercer township, and
here spent the remainder of his days, except the last few summers which
he had been spending with his sister, Margaret, in Idaho Falls.
He leaves five brothers to mourn his death Mike, of Great Falls,
Montana; Dennis, of Omaha, Neb.; John, Ed and Tom of Corning; and three
sisters, Sister Mary Clotilda of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Margaret
Woodmansee of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Kate Sisson, of Lewistown, Montana.
Requiem High Mass was celebrated Monday, September 2, 1945 in
honor of the deceased, by Rev. Father Powers at St. Patrick's Church in
Corning. Mary Jane Hogan, his niece, sang the Mass with Mrs. Carl Lyons
playing the organ. Those attending the funeral from a distance were:
Margaret Woodmansee, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Hogan, Mr.
and Mrs. Tom Flanagan and daughters, Mary and Ann of Omaha, Neb.; Will
Hogan and son, Morris, of Greenfield, Iowa; Donald Hogan, S i/c of
Corvallis, Oregon; Mr. and Mrs. Will Collins of Mapleton, Ia.; and Mr.
and Mrs. Lewis Collins, Otto, Ia;
Pall bearers were his nephew, Damian Hogan, Vincent Hogan, Hugh
Hogan, Albert Hogan, Donald Hogan S i/c and Art Schweers.
