Aged Resident Dies Thursday at Keithsburg
Conduct Services on Saturday for George S. Hollinrake Retired Farmer
George Samuel Hollinrake passed away Thursday afternoon, April
5, 1945, at his home in Keithsburg, following an illness of several months.
Mr. Hollinrake was born July 14, 1865, in the Belmont
neighborhood south of Seaton. His parents were James and Margaret
Hollinrake. His early life was spent in that community on a farm.
He was married to Miss Catherine Wheelan of Davenport, Jan. 12,
1898. They were the parents of five children, four of whom are living.
George Jr., died in 1930 and Mrs. Hollinrake in 1936.
Truck Farmer
The family lived in the Knoxville addition of Keithsburg for many
years where Mr. Hollinrake was engaged in truck farming. Since retiring
they had lived in Keithsburg.
Mr. Hollinrake had lived in the Belmont and Keithsburg
communities for 76 years. He spent one year in Washington, Ia., and two
years in Los Angeles, Calif.
Surviving him are a son, James Hollinrake of Keithsburg; three
daughters, Margaret at home, Helen of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs.
George Sterling of Davenport, and three grandchildren.
Funeral Service
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock from
St. Mary's Catholic church. Rev. Emil Metzger, pastor, was in charge of
the requiem mass with music by St. Mary's choir. Pallbearers were Arthur
and Michael O'Malley, Russell O'Hearn, Lester Callahan, R. J. Henderson
and Peter Mumey.

Mrs. James Ranney, Mrs. Margaret Wheelan, Mr. and Mrs. John Oaks, Sr.,
and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. John Oaks, Jr., of Monmouth; Mrs.
Catherine Sterling and daughter, Naomi; Harry Strong, Mrs. Maurice Nolan
and Mrs. Margaret Haney of Davenport; Mrs. Russell Harney and Mrs. John
Bull of Joy; Mrs. Harold Brueck and son of Burlington; Mrs. Ralph Doak,
Mrs. Robert Millett and Mrs. Frank Murphy of Rock Island; Mrs. Pete
Frederickson, Mrs. Everett Frederickson and Mr. and Mrs. Carol Oaks of
Seaton; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Mack of Reynolds; Mrs. Fred Breuer and son
Glen and daughters, Mrs. Carl Meyer and Mrs. Albert Weaver of Burlington.
