Verna Hollinrake
Verna S. Hollinrake, 98, of Keithsburg, died Sunday, Sept. 16,
2007, at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo.
Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St.
Catherine's Church, Aledo. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, Keithsburg.
Visitation is 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo,
where memorials may be made to Mercer County Nursing Home or St. Mary's
Catholic Church Altar Society, Keithsburg. Online condolences can be

She was born Jan. 17, 1909, in Edina, Mo., a daughter of Fred and
Jessie Beckman Breuer. She graduated from Keithsburg High School. On
March 17, 1927, she married James Francis Hollinrake in Keithsburg. He
died in 1980.
Verna was a homemaker and raised her family on their rural
Keithsburg farm.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Altar
Society and a longtime member of the Farm Bureau Women's Committee.
She enjoyed playing cards, quilting, crocheting, photography,
gardening, canning and especially being with her family.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and Roger
Cummings, Monmouth, Kathleen and Ronald Schwitzer, Davenport; two sons
and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Marjorie Hollinrake, Malibu, Calif.,
Don and Adelaide Hollinrake, Maynard, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 28
great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Leona Weaver and Bonnie Darrah,
both of Burlington, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents,
husband, three sisters and one brother.
