Maurice C. Horan Succumbs at 87 In Reynolds Home
Reynolds -- Maurice C. Horan, 87, a well-known stock farmer of this
vicinity, died at his farm home three miles south of Reynolds at 2:30
o'clock yesterday afternoon. He had been ill a year.
He was born Dec. 23, 1858 in Rock Island county, the son of John
and Catherine Horan, and married Mary Brennan 62 years ago in St.
Joseph's church southwest of Preemption. Mrs. Horan died in May, 1922.
Mr. Horan had farmed 50 years on the same farm. He was a
life member of St. Joseph's church, Preemption, and belonged to the Holy
Name society.
Surviving are a daughter, Sister Mary Corona, Sacred Heart
school, Rock Island; a son, Bert Horan, at home; a brother, Ed Horan,
Rock Island; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The body will remain at the Wheelan funeral home until 9 o'clock
tonight. The rosary will be recited there at 8 o'clock. It will be taken
to the farm home tomorrow morning, where the rosary will be recited at 8
o'clock tomorrow night.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 o'clock Friday morning in the
home and at 10 o'clock in St. Anthony's church, Matherville cemetery.
