J. E. Hottle, Seaton, Taken Late Tuesday
Will Conduct Funeral Friday for Retired Farmer at Belmont
James E. Hottle, prominent retired Mercer county farmer and
resident of Seaton for the past 20 years, died at 6 o'clock Tuesday
evening, Sept. 17, 1946 in Cottage hospital, Galesburg, after a brief
illness. He was taken to the hospital after suffering a slight stroke on
Sept. 6. He was 78 years old.
He was born in Central, Ind., on Feb. 7, 1868, a son of William
H. and Dehlia Watson Hottle. He was married Sept. 10, 1889 to Miss
Nelice E. Watson at Mockport, Ind., and they came to Illinois in 1902.
Retired in 1926
Mr. and Mrs. Hottle lived first on the William E. Callahan farm
for eight years and then on the Nellie Flack farm for 16 years before
retiring in 1926 and moving to Seaton. They celebrated their 57 t h
wedding anniversary Tuesday, Sept. 10.
Surviving besides the wife are four children; Mrs. Leo Smith of
Seaton, Bufford Hottle, of New Orleans, La., James W. Hottle of Little
York and Coe Hottle of Washington, Ia.; three sisters, Lucrecia
