Mrs. Mabel Howe, 67, Dies in Galesburg, Services

Mrs. Mabel Howe, 67, of 653 Southwest St., Galesburg, formerly
of Seaton, died at St. Mary's hospital in Galesburg at 1:30 a.m.,
Tuesday, June 13, 1961. She had been a patient at the hospital
intermittently the past three weeks.
The former Mabel Cecelia Howe was born Aug. 30, 1894 in Mercer
county, the daughter of the late William and Ann Bohan Callahan. She was
a graduate of Seaton high school. On Sept. 5, 1918 she was married to
Emery Howe in St. Mary's rectory at Keithsburg. The couple lived in or
near Seaton all of their married life. Mr. Howe died in 1942.
Mrs. Howe was a member of St. Catherine's Roman Catholic church
and the Altar and Rosary society of that church.
Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Vernon Brunkow, whom she raised since
her mother's death two weeks after her birth. Mrs. Howe had made her
home with the Brunkows the past several years.
Other survivors include a brother, Ward Callahan of Galesburg; a
sister, Mrs. Frank Otto of Seaton; four nieces and one nephew. She was
preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters.
Funeral mass will be held Friday morning at 9:30 at St.
Catherine's Roman Catholic church in Aledo with the Rev. C. M. Meyer
officiating. Interment will be made in St. Mary's cemetery in Keithsburg.
The rosary will be recited at 8:15 p.m., Thursday at the Reiser Funeral
chapel in Aledo.
