Joseph Irlmeier
Joseph Irlmeier, 91, a retired farmer, died at 3 a.m. Friday,
February 26, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday,
March 1, at St. Lawrence church with the Rev. Msgr. Leo Lenz
officiating. A grandson, Robert J. Irlbeck, will be lector;
granddaughters Peg Irlmeier, Mary Jo Sack, Sue Brosnahan and Joleen Wess
gift-bearers. Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery at Templeton.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Duane, Terry, Jim and
Steve Irlmeier; Alan Kraus and B. J. Crowdes. Friends may call at the
Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 7 p.m. Saturday. A Loyal Order of
Moose memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7:30
p.m. Saturday and a rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. On Sunday, rosaries
will be recited at the funeral home at 3 p.m., 8 p.m. (St. Lawrence
parish) and at 8:45 p.m. (Templeton Council of the Knights of Columbus.)
Mr. Irlmeier is survived by six sons: Joe F., Templeton; Leonard,
Goleta, Calif.; Wilfred (Bud), Carroll; Clete, Carroll; Donald, Audubon,
and Merlin Irlmeier, Templeton; four daughters: Mrs. Ambrose (Ann)
Irlbeck, Dedham; Mrs. Al (Irene) Kraus, Maple River; Mrs. Bob (Dorothy)
Crowdes, Winterset, and Mrs. Ed (Jean) Brosnahan, Denison; 62
grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anna on December
17, 1963; two sons: Alex and Leo; three grandchildren and a brother
Frank X. Irlmeier. Mr. Irlmeier was born March 28, 1890, at Roselle, a
son of Joseph Sr. and Magdalen Stockel Irlmeier. He spent most of his
life in the Templeton area where he attended rural school. On February
7, 1910, he was married to Anna Feilmeier at St. Joseph church in Dedham
by the late Rev. H. J. Drees.
They farmed two and a half miles south of Templeton until 1958
when they retired and moved to the present home at 541 West 20th street
in Carroll. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on February
7, 1960. After his wife's death he continued to live in his home until
he entered the Carroll Health Center nursing home in 1977.
He was a member of St. Lawrence parish, the Loyal Order of Moose
Lodge at Glidden and was an honorary life member of the Templeton
Council of the Knights of Columbus.
