Lee Jasper

DAVENPORT -- Services for LeRoy H. "Lee" Jasper, Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Kahl Home Chapel, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation is 2:30-5 p.m. Sunday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Mr. Jasper died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Kahl Home for the Aged and Infirm, Davenport. He had been a self-employed Realtor for several years. He owned and operated Lee Jasper Realtors, Davenport. Mr. Jasper and his brother, Lawrence, also had owned and operated the former Jaspers Grocery and Meat Market for many years. He was born Dec. 26, 1907, in Moline, to Henry August and Anna (Mier) Jasper. He married Dorothy Conrad on Jan. 9, 1930, in Davenport. She died Oct. 25, 1997. They had been married 67 years at the time of her death. Lee attended the former Brown's Business College, Davenport. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 532, Loras General Assembly Fourth Degree and the Moose. Lee enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren. He will be remembered as having a wonderful sense humor and being very gregarious in all aspects of life, either through his work or his personal interests. He also was a legendary cook. Memorials can be made to Kahl Home, St. Anthony's Care and Share or a favorite charity. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Lee and William Markley, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Pat Jasper, Davenport; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lawrence Jasper, Davenport.
