Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Jordan, 94, of Georgetown
Manors, Aledo, former Viola resident, were held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in
the Crummy funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. John's Catholic Church.
The Rev. John Love, pastor, officiated. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery.
Mrs. Jordan died Saturday night in Georgetown Manors after a
brief illness.
She was a clerk in the Viola Post Office for 20 years, retiring in 1952.
The former Emma Roettler was born in Viola, on May 18, 1882, a
daughter of Jacob and Mary Andrews Roettler. She attended Viola schools.
She married James Jordan in May of 1906 in Galesburg. He died in
November of that year.
She was a member of St. John's Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bert Mack of Viola; four
grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She
was preceded in death by a brother and six sisters.
