Died From Injuries

James Jordan, a Former New Boston Boy, Fatally Injured In Railway Wreck

James Henry Jordan, a former New Boston boy, employed as fireman on the "Q" was fatally injured in a wreck on the Quincy branch, between Galesburg and Abingdon, on last Wednesday night, receiving injuries from which he died Thursday afternoon about 4 o'clock. His engine was backing from Abingdon and came into collision with a heavy train. Both of his legs and one arm were broken and he was badly scalded. He was taken to the hospital at once. At first he rallied and seemed to improve but finally began to decline.
A special train carried the remains to Viola Saturday forenoon, where funeral services were held. Interment was in the Viola cemetery. Just six months previous to the date of his death he was married to Miss Emma Roettler of Viola. His death is a most sad and lamented one. He was but 21 years old last June.
