Mary Ann Daly Kane
Mrs. R. C. Kane, Sr., of this city, passed away Saturday
morning, from a long lingering illness from a complication of diseases,
at the family residence. The funeral was held Monday morning at St.
Patrick's Catholic church at 9:30 o'clock, the services being conducted
by the pastor, Rev. Father Richard Dollard. Interment was made in
Calvary cemetery. Mary Ann Daly was born December 22, 1851, in Dubuque,
Iowa, and lacked just four days or reaching her 70th birthday
anniversary. She was reared in the vicinity of her birth, and where she
was also married July 1, 1872, to R. C. Kane, who with their six
children survive her. The children are Mrs. Tim Ryan of Jasper township,
Alan, at home, Robert of Mercer township, Mrs. C. E. Keever of Wagner,
S. D., Mrs. E. E. Keever of Lucas, S. D., Sister Margaret Mary of
Dubuque Mercy hospital. Besides the husband and children there are
fourteen grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Tim Sullivan who is
spending the winter with her son in Riviera, Texas. The family removed
to Mercer township in 1876, residing there until eight years ago when
they removed to Corning. A few years ago Mrs. Kane accidentally fell,
breaking her hip, which perhaps was one cause of her recent bad health.
She was one of the good old fashioned mothers of the community, who
everyone respected highly, and who always had a pleasant smile and a
word of cheer for all she chanced to meet. Note: Died 18 Dec 1920. | ||
