Earl James Kanne
Earl James Kanne, 70, of Lidderdale, died Wednesday, Sept. 1,
1999 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, following a brief illness.
Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4,
1999 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale with Father Merlin
Schrad as celebrant.
Lectors for the Mass will be Melissa Kanne, Heather Schulte and Heidi
White. Gift bearers will be Stephanie Stanzyk, Beth Schulte, Jen McGee,
Michelle Kroeger and Matt White. Mass servers will be Dawn Sporrer,
Sarah Sporrer, Amber Sporrer and Aliece Schulte. Eucharistic minister
will be John McGee.
Casket bearers will be grandsons Kevin Kroeger, Ryan Kroeger, Jeff
Sporrer, Steve Sporrer, Curt Sporrer and Michael Kanne.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. today Friday, Sept. 3, at Dahn and
Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and
there will be a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial fund gifts may be left at either the funeral home or the church.
Born March 6, 1929, in Carroll, he was a son of John and Genevieve
Wieland Kanne, and a lifelong Carroll County resident. He attended
Carroll High School.
On Sept. 5, 1950, he was married to Marilyn Schulte at SS Peter and Paul
Catholic Church in Carroll by Father Frank H. Greteman.
Mr. Kanne was a farmer and also bought and sold farm machinery for 14 years.
He enjoyed traveling, attending flea markets and buying and selling
automobiles. The Kannes spent winters in Arizona.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale.
Mr. Kane is survived by a son, John Kanne of Lidderdale; seven
daughters, Diane Prine of Omaha, Neb., Jan Sporrer and her husband Dale
of Dedham, Nancie Stanzyk and her husband Don, of Carroll, Delynne
Kroeger of Carroll, Kathy Sporrer of Glidden, Donna Schulte and her
husband Duane of Audubon and Kristy Kanne and her special friend Jim
Schwabe of Carroll; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three
sisters, Inez Kasperbauer of Carroll, Lillian Schleisman and her
husband, Lyle, of Lidderdale and Marie Wernimont and her husband, Walt,
of Carroll; and a sister-in-law, Delores Kanne, of Carroll.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, in 1980; four
brothers, Robert and Roy Kanne and two brothers in infancy; two
sons-in-law, Rand Kroeger and Paul Sporrer; and a brother-in-law, Jack
Kasperbauer.
