Mabel Kelleher
Mabel M. Kelleher, 100, of Reynolds, formerly of Rock Island, died
Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church,
Rock Island, where she was a member. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery,
Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the
church. Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Kelleher was born Dec. 12, 1902, in Taylor Ridge, the
daughter of James and Amanda Young Curry. She married John W. Kelleher
May 23, 1923, in Edgington. He died Dec. 6, 1964.
Along with being a homemaker, Mabel worked at the former Oaks
Restaurant, Milan. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of
St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Andalusia, and a member of the Reynolds
Garden Club. She was also a former member of St. Anthony's Catholic
Church, Matherville.
She is survived by daughters, Veronica Peterson, Montgomery,
Ill., and Regina Docherty and her husband, Dale, Auburn, N.Y.; sons,
Thomas Kelleher, Champaign, Ill., and Leo Kelleher and his wife, Doris,
Alexis; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; sisters, Esther Boney and Mildred Ames, both of
Aledo, and Patricia Nimrick and her husband, George, Taylor Ridge;
sisters-in-law, Florence Curry, Taylor Ridge, and Catherine Curry, East Moline.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Alvin and Harold; a
daughter-in-law; and a son-in-law.
