Dan Kennedy

  The community was shocked and saddened Tuesday evening, May 27th, to hear of the sudden passing of Dan Kennedy, well known and highly respected citizen of the community. Mr. Kennedy suffered with heart trouble several months ago, and was in the hospital a number of weeks. Since that time he has been going about visiting friends and taking life easy. He suffered a heart attack very suddenly Tuesday evening, was on his way to go to an Omaha Hospital by ambulance, but he became so ill that he was taken to the Murphy Memorial Hospital where he passed away at 7:30 o'clock.
  Daniel H. Kennedy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Kennedy, was born in Cascade, Iowa, Dubuque County, on March 21, 1874. In July of that year the family came to Adams county, and this has been his home throughout his life. His life has been devoted to farming, until the past two years, when he has been less active. He was a faithful member of his church, a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1907, and the highest type of neighbor and friend. His ways were unassuming, but he was always ready to help a friend and neighbor, whenever there was need. His presence will be deeply missed by his family and large circle of friends.
  Funeral services were held from St. Patrick's Church in Corning, Friday morning, May 30, the Requiem High Mass celebrate by the pastor, Rev. Father M. J. Powers, at 8 o'clock. Interment was made in the family lot in Calvary Cemetery.
  Pall bearers were six of his nephews, James Kennedy, Louis Sullivan, Wm. Ryan, Bernard Kennedy, James Sullivan and Pat Ryan.
  Those surviving to mourn his loss: Brothers and sisters, Miss Catherine Kennedy, of Davenport; Mrs. Wm. Ryan; Miss Nellie Kennedy; Mrs. W. J. Sullivan, Griswold; Michael, Will of Omaha; Sister Mary Helena of Des Moines; James and Miss Margaret Kennedy, and a large number of nieces and nephews, and many friends.
  Attending services from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Sullivan and Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. James Sullivan and children, all of Griswold; Mrs. M. J. Corkle, Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Brown, Avoca; Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Cardwell, Omaha; Mrs. N. P. Wirfs, Mason City; Mrs. Ethel Pederson and children, Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Ryan and family, Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wolf, Omaha; Mary and Catherine Barnett, Omaha; Sister M. Helena and Sister M. Esther, of Des Moines.
