Obituary Of Silas A. Kimm
Silas August Kimm, son of Henry and Marie Kimm was born at
Utica, New York, October 25, 1858, and departed this life at Pierson,
Iowa, December 1, 1936 at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 6 days.
In October, 1885 he was united in marriage to Hanna Warneke at
Odebolt, Iowa. To this union were born ten children, eight of whom are
still living. The mother passed away in October 1903. Mr. Kimm came to
this community fifty years ago and has been engaged in farming since that time.
On October 15, 1914, at Fort Dodge, Iowa he was united in
marriage to Leota E. Taubman. To this union were born two children.
Those left to mourn his passing are his widow of Pierson and
three sons and seven daughters, Mrs. Carrie Bauer of Ells River,
Minnesota; Henry of Kingsley, Iowa; Fred of Clark, South Dakota; Mrs.
Hanna Meister of Kingsley; Mrs. Laura Shea of Emmetsburg, Iowa; Mrs.
Lura Hathaway of Beach, North Dakota; Mrs. Marie McDermott of Kingsley;
Tom, and Aurabelle, still at home. Three brothers and three sisters also
survive him besides other more distant relatives and a host of friends.
The funeral was held from the Methodist church Thursday, December
4th at 2:00. Rev. Edw. Hignett delivering the sermon. Pallbearers were
Leo Shea, Glen Hathaway, George and Oscar, Meister, Emmett McDermott and Ervin Thorpe.
Other relatives attending from a distance were Fred Kimm and
daughter, Evelyn of Norway, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bowler, Fairfax,
Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Kimm, Northwood, Iowa; Mrs. H. C. Moeller,
Decatur, Nebraska; George Parker and daughter, Bancroft, Nebraska; Mr.
and Mrs. James Drake, Holstein, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Thorpe and son
and Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Thorpe all of Lake View, Iowa; Mrs. Eugene
Reinhart, Carroll, Iowa.
