Funeral Services Held Saturday For Earle Knapp
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Feb. 27, at 2
p.m. at First Methodist church for H. Earl Knapp, who died Thursday
evening, Feb. 25, at the Schaller hospital following a lingering illness.
The services were conducted by Rev. Clayton Becker, pastor. The
favorite hymns of "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder" and
"In The Sweet By and By" were sung by Ruth Anne McQuigg and
Mary Buehler accompanied by Mrs. Leonard Blewitt, organist. Interment
was in Schaller cemetery with Johathon King, John Vande Weerd, John
Grotjohn, Henry Sanderman, Herman Swanson and Joe Hughes as pall-bearers.
H. Earle Knapp was born Aug. 23, 1889 at Smith Center, Kansas and
passed away Feb. 25, 1954 at the age of 64 years, six months, and two
days. He received his education in the Schaller school and spent most of
his life in the community. He was a member of First Methodist church and
attended most faithfully as long as his health permitted. He will be
missed by many because of his cheerful and friendly attitude.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Mack,
who died in Dec. 1952. Earl made his home with his aunt, Mrs. Ida Warn.
Those left to mourn are six sisters: Mrs. Ed Woodard (Opal), Mrs. Chas.
Wehde (Lois) both of Schaller; Mrs. Henry Langner (Carol) of Volga, S.
Dak.; Mrs. Allyn Krause (Lillian) of Hartington, Neb.; Mrs. Merrill
Ziegler (Edna) of Enid, Okla.; Mrs. Harvey Shonwerd (Helen) of Lincoln,
Neb.; his aged aunt, Mrs. Ida Warn of Schaller, and fifteen nieces and nephews.
Among relatives from out-of-town attending the services were Mr.
and Mrs. M. H. Ziegler of Enid, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Shonwerd, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Shonwerd, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Shonwerd all of Lincoln,
Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Allyn Krause, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Krause and daughter
Laurie, Mrs. Richard Lindeman all of Hartington, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Langner of Volga, S. Dak.; Earl Woodard of Waterloo, Mrs. Ray
Cobb, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mueller Sr., Mrs. And Mrs. Walter Mueller Jr.,
and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wissink, all of Ida Grove.
