Leo Kness

  Funeral services for Leo M. Kness, 75, of New Windsor, will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Jinks Funeral Home, Viola, and St. John's Catholic Church, Viola. The Rev. Leo McKenna, pastor of St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church, Aledo, will officiate. Burial will be in Viola Cemetery.
  Visitation is from noon to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home where a rosary will be recited at the funeral home.
  Memorials for the family may be left at the Jinks Funeral Home, Viola.
  Mr. Kness died Sunday, Oct. 7, 1984 at the Mercer County Hospital.
  Leo Matthew Kness was born July 17, 1909, in Viola, a son of John and Louise Brock Kness.
  He was educated in Viola schools.
  He lived in Viola until 1959, when he moved to New Windsor.
  He married Orpha McAtee on July 2, 1931, in Peoria. She died in 1969.
  Mr. Kness was a warehouse employee at John Deere Spreader Works until retiring in 1969.
  He was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Viola.
  Surviving are a son, Burton McAtee of Silver Springs, NV; a daughter, Mrs. Frances Cooper of Alpha; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Lindquist of Aledo; and two brothers, John of Aledo and Martin of Rock Island.
