Martin R. Kness, 76, of 20 Brittany Lane, Rock Island, died
Monday at Franciscan Medical Center, Rock Island.
Services are 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church,
Rock Island, where he was a member. Entombment is in Calvary Mausoleum.
Visitation is 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Wheelan Funeral
Home, Rock Island, with a rosary recited at 8. Memorials may be made to
the church, or American Cancer Society.
Mr. Kness was born July 21, 1913, in Viola. He married Genevieve M. Kick
Oct. 18, 1941, in Rock Island. She died Sept. 3, 1989.
He was employed for 36 years by Deere & Co., working first as
a press operator at the former Spreader Works, Moline. He retired in
1972 as a guard at the Parts Distribution Center, Milan.
He was a former member of Allouez Council 658 Knights of
Columbus, Rock Island; and a former union member.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Metzger, Rock Island; a son
Paul Kness, Maple Valley, Wash.; grandchildren, Anne Luloff, Rock
Island, Eva and Orina Kness, both of Maple Valley, and Tim, Michael and
Dan Metzger, all of Rock Island; a great-grandson, Brandon Luloff; and a
brother, John Kness, Aledo.
