Samuel Kugler
Samuel Kugler, 57, Viola, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, at Mercer
County Hospital, Aledo.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Family Funeral Services, Viola.
Burial is in Viola Cemetery. Visitation is noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with
the family present from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials may
be made to Viola Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Kugler was born Sept. 3, 1940, in Aledo, the son of Wayne and
Mary Taylor Kugler. He married Barbara Mack in March 1962.
He had owned and operated Sam's 66 in Viola since Sept. 1, 1968.
Prior to that, he worked at J.I. Case for nearly 10 years. He enjoyed racing.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila Smith and
Reggie Anseeuw, Woodhull; his mother, Mary McCurdy, Aledo; sisters, Mary
Kay Schoolan, Illinois City, and Lila Engle, Moline; a brother, Lyle
Kugler, Aledo; and a special friend, Nancy McAtee, Viola. He was
preceded in death by his father and a brother, Richard Lee Kugler.
